HISTORY
I’m a sole practicioner. That means this is my law practice. There are no partners or associates. I am responsible for the service provided to my clients.
My practice is located at the Roseland Law Chambers in Burlington. Within these chambers are the distinct and independent firms of Paul A. LaFleur, Karmel Sakran, John B. Watters, J.Paul Charlebois, Q.C., H. Gordon Norsworthy, and Gordon P. Germann. From time to time these firms will refer their respective clients to me or seek my advice as counsel in areas of law in which I have greater familiarity and from time to time I will refer clients to these firms or seek advice from each of them as counsel in areas of law in which each of them have greater familiarity. The philosophy defining the Roseland Law Chambers is “The Collective Strength of Individual Practices.” I believe that in practice, this philosophy will benefit my clients. Each of our firms remain separate and distinct, and are solely responsible for the services to our respective clients. I also consult with other counsel and experts from time to time as the circumstances of a client’s matter may require.
Since 1981, except for the period between 1987 and 1990 when I acted as Assistant General Counsel to Runnymede Development Corporation, a real property developer in the Greater Toronto Area, I carried on my law practice as a sole practitioner. While in Toronto I had the good fortune to practice on Bay Street and in the Bloor Street /Avenue Road/ Yorkville areas. In 2002 I relocated my practice to Burlington, which has been terrific.
Experience: The laundry list of matters which I have dealt with and continue to deal with include the following: collections, employment matters, breach of contract, professional liability, bankruptcy, fraud and quasi fraud, commercial crime, injunctions to preserve assets and documentary evidence, intellectual property protection, trade marks, advertising, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, corporate oppression remedies, winding up applications, real and personal property rights, mortgage remedies, consumer protection matters, repair and storage lien matters, personal injury claims, business organizations, franchises, human rights proceedings, unfair business practices, construction deficiencies, construction lien claims, animal breeding rights, defamation, regulatory offences, defence in criminal matters and mediation.
